3 things to do in Anchorage this weekend

Will we see a surplus of sun this weekend? Only time will tell, but here are events for spending time outside and for those who prefer indoor activities. The summer market season is sizzling and a roller disco should provide fun, music and plenty of skating.

On a sunny day, spending 5 or 6 hours inside might be a hard sell. But internet fervor is off the charts for movie fans excited for the double viewing of “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer.”

Barbenheimer

Times vary

It’s the double feature internetters have been musing about for weeks — “Oppenheimer” and “Barbie.”

The two films are being shown at a number of theaters in Anchorage and the Valley, setting up ample opportunities for pairing the two as a combo platter. For the uninitiated, “Oppenheimer” is director Christopher Nolan’s portrayal of the man known as “the father of the atomic bomb.” “Barbie” is Greta Gerwig’s film about the issues the title character encounters when she leaves Barbie World for the real world.

The only question is which one to see first.
