New mural brings retro colors and a nod to Hawaii to Mountain View

Rejoy Armamento, with help from Maureen Meyer and Rie Nunez, painted on the western wall of Surf Laundry, located on Mountain View Drive and North Bragaw Street, Tuesday. The artist said the owner of business requested something reminiscent of Hawaii.

Armamento’s design will add local flavor and retro colors to a classic Hawaiian scene. The mural will feature two women surfing the Turnagain Arm bore tide, she said. The mural will be one of several in the Mountain View Mural Walk project, organized by the Mountain View Community Council.

Armamento said she enjoyed the opportunity to get to know people in the neighborhood. “I’ve always admired its diversity and I just really want to work with the community here more,” she said. The mural should be done in mid-September, she said.
