Fun things happening this week: Norah Jones at Bear Tooth and ‘Kung Fu Panda’ in Town Square

Norah Jones at Bear Tooth — Nine-time Grammy winner Norah Jones is performing three shows in Anchorage over this weekend. Tickets for all nights sold out basically the second they went on sale but can be found for resale at a significant mark-up -- prices begin at $90. 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 2-4, Bear Tooth Theater Pub, 1230 Ave.

Puccini, Rachmaninov, Dvorak — Anchorage chamber musicians will play works from Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly,” Rachmaninov’s Cello Sonata and Dvorak’s String Serenade. $12-$25. 7:30-9 p.m. Friday Aug. 2, UAA Fine Arts Building, 3700 Alumni Dr.

Summer School for Drunks — Comedians will spend the night teaching audience members about things like the French Revolution or sex education. $5. 8-10 p.m. Saturday Aug. 3, Koot’s 2435 Spenard Rd.

Japanese Summer Festival — The Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage and the Japan Alaska Association are hosting an event for people to experience Japanese culture. There will be ikebana flower arrangments, a tea ceremony, live music, Bon Odori dancing, vendors and more. Free admission. 12-5 p.m. Saturday Aug. 3, UAA Lucy Cuddy Hall, 3400 Seawolf Dr.

Boeing, Boeing — This farce delves into the 1960s and follows a bachelor who couldn’t be happier with his life, which soon changes when his friend visits him. $23-$25. 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 (runs through Aug. 25) Cyrano’s, 3800 Debarr Rd.

Wine in the Woods — More than 70 international and domestic wines will be served in this wine tasting fundraiser. There will also be appetizers and live music by Silver Train. Registration required. $25-$70. 6-9 p.m. Thursday Aug. 8, Alaska Botanical Garden, 4601 Campbell Airstrip Rd.

Annual Book Party in the Park — This family-friendly event has a dance performance by Acilquq, live music by Timbre Music Band, giveaways, a cardboard box construction zone and more. Better yet: every child goes home with a free book. Free. 4 p.m. Thursday Aug. 8, thread, 3350 Commercial Dr.

Wild Salmon Day: Anchorage — Local artists, musicians and food trucks are celebrating the rich culture salmon provides at this event. There will be plenty of goodies and salmon crafts for all ages. Free admission. 6-9 p.m. Thursday Aug. 8, Anchorage Museum, 625 C St.

Movie in the Park — Anchorage Downtown Partnership and Showboss AV are showing “Kung Fu Panda” outside in Town Square.
