An Anchorage man was found dead on a trail Tuesday morning near Glennallen after he reportedly wandered outside alone Monday evening, troopers said.
Alaska State Troopers said in a Tuesday dispatch that 28-year-old Matthew Thorne's body was recovered using snowmachines from the trail between Lake Louise and Cameron Cove. A call reporting the discovery of the body first came in to troopers at about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday.
"Investigation revealed Thorne was seen under the influence of controlled substance before he walked away from a cabin the night before in single-digit temperatures," troopers wrote. "Next of kin was notified."
Troopers are continuing to investigate Thorne's death. His body was sent to the state medical examiner office in Anchorage for an autopsy.
