The snow and ice are all but a memory, and our dog parks need some serious help before the remains of a winter's worth of irresponsible dog ownership melt into our waterways, not to mention fouling the grounds of the parks and trails where we play.
The Anchorage Scoop the Poop Committee has targeted two of the most popular off-leash parks -- University Lake and Connors Bog -- for a four-hour group effort.
Bags, gloves and shovels will be provided by volunteers stationed at both areas.
If transportation or commitments prevent you from making it, use the day to clean up any trail or park around town where you regularly walk your dog.
