Snow may fall upon portions of Southwest and Southcentral Alaska starting on Thanksgiving Day, according to the National Weather Service Alaska.
The weather service says snow is expected to arrive in Southwest during the day Thursday, and then move to Southcentral in the evening.
"This change in weather pattern comes after a prolonged period of dry conditions for most of the region," according to a weather service statement.
In Southcentral, residents from Talkeetna to Soldotna should see some of the white stuff, the statement says.
Following the expected snowfall, forecasters predict conditions will remain favorable for additional storms — winter weather will move through the region for at least the next week.
