Kivalina man dies in ATV rollover

A 22-year-old man died in a four-wheeler accident in Kivalina on Wednesday morning, troopers said.

Alaska State Troopers received a report around 7 a.m. about a single-ATV rollover, troopers said in an online report.

The driver, Larry Swan, was found unresponsive and not breathing in the ditch, troopers said.

First responders took Swan to the local clinic, where he was declared dead, they said.

Swan “was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident,” troopers said.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, troopers said.

Swan’s next-of-kin was at the scene, troopers said. His body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner Office.
