Body of Dillingham man found more than a month after he went missing, troopers say

A body found by a commercial fisherman was identified Friday as a 36-year-old man reported missing from Dillingham more than a month ago, Alaska State Troopers said.

Carl Nunn’s body was found near Point Protection on the Nushagak Peninsula and recovered June 22 by Alaska State Troopers, they said. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner Office for identification, troopers said.

Nunn and 29-year-old Rachelle Johnson were last seen on May 13 when they left Dillingham in a borrowed skiff to go fishing in Ekuk, about 17 miles to the south, troopers have said. They were reported missing several days after they departed because the skiff was found upside down on the shore of Ekuk beach, troopers said.

An aerial search team found Johnson’s body along the tideline near Clark’s Point on May 25, troopers said.
