A Bethel man died and a child suffered life-threatening injuries in a boat collision Sunday afternoon on the Kuskokwim River, troopers said.
A boater heading toward Bethel saw the wreckage of two boats just before 3 p.m., according to an online statement from the Alaska State Troopers.
The boater stopped to help and found David Berlin dead, the injured child and two adults with non-life-threatening injuries in one of the boats, troopers said.
The injured people were transported from the wreckage so they could receive medical help, troopers said.
The number of people on the other boat or their condition was not immediately clear. Troopers said the investigation into the collision is ongoing.
