PALMER — A 94-year-old Houston woman was killed Monday afternoon when the car she was riding in was struck on the passenger side as it turned off the Parks Highway, Alaska State Troopers said.
Ida Cockroft died at a hospital from the injuries she suffered in the collision, troopers said in an online update.
Troopers said their investigation showed Cockroft was a passenger in a 2018 Ford Focus that made a left turn onto Cheri Lakes Drive in front of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, which struck the car.
No alcohol or other impairment was suspected, troopers said. Excessive speed also was not believed to be a factor, according to troopers spokesman Austin McDaniel.
No citations or criminal charges had been filed as of Tuesday but the collision remained under investigation, McDaniel said.
