Troopers probe circumstances of Wasilla man’s death

The death of a Wasilla man is being investigated “as if it were a homicide,” an Alaska State Troopers spokesman confirmed by email Saturday.

Troopers found John Kellogg, 47, dead outside on his property just south of Wasilla near Greenstreet Circle on Dec. 28, according to troopers spokesman Ken Marsh. A friend of Kellogg’s had asked for a welfare check after not hearing from Kellogg in a few days, Marsh said in an email.

Kellogg is believed to have died on Christmas Day, troopers said in a report posted online. No further details were provided on the manner of Kellogg’s death, which Marsh said Saturday afternoon was undetermined. An investigation by the General Investigative Unit is ongoing.

Troopers asked anyone who has information about Kellogg’s death or was in the area on Christmas Day to call investigators at 907-745-2131.
