A Wasilla woman died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night, Alaska State Troopers reported.
Troopers responded to reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision at Bogard Road and Merciful Circle in Wasilla around 9:13 p.m. Saturday, according to a trooper dispatch posted online Sunday.
A 45-year-old man was driving a white Crown Victoria eastbound on Bogard Road when 26-year-old Marissa Atoruk "walked into his lane of travel and was hit," troopers said.
Atoruk was pronounced dead after being transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center following the collision.
Atoruk's family has been notified of her death, troopers said. A spokeswoman for the troopers didn't immediately have further details about the driver or the incident Sunday morning, but the dispatch said an investigation is ongoing.
