Two people died and seven others were injured in a head-on collision involving three vehicles Sunday night near Fairbanks, Alaska State Troopers said.
Three vehicles were involved in the collision in the area of Chena Hot Springs Road and Esro Road around 6:15 p.m., troopers said. People in all three of the vehicles were injured and a man and woman died at the scene, according to troopers.
Seven people were brought to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and two of them were then medevaced to Anchorage, troopers said.
It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the collision and troopers said the investigation was ongoing. The road was closed for about four hours Sunday as troopers investigated the scene.
