Two men were seriously injured in separate shootings in Anchorage over the weekend, the Anchorage Police Department said.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 4300 block of San Ernesto Avenue around 1:40 p.m. Saturday, police said in an online update. At the scene, responders found a man with gunshot wounds to his upper body and took him to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, police said.
The shooting was an isolated and not random incident, police said. The area where the shooting occurred is north of DeBarr Road between Bragaw Street and Pine Street. Additional information wasn’t immediately available.
Another shooting was reported Friday, with officers responding around 9:30 p.m. to the 5000 block of Mountain View Drive, police said in an online statement. A man who was hurt in that shooting had previously arrived at the hospital to check himself in for treatment of life-threatening injuries, police said. Davis Park, Mountain View Lions Community Park and wooded areas are located along that stretch of Mountain View Drive.
Police said they were investigating the motive for that shooting and following up on leads. They have not released any suspect information as of Sunday.
Police asked anyone with information about either of the incidents, including surveillance footage of the areas where they took place, to contact dispatch at 311 or 907-786-8900.
An Anchorage police spokesperson said there were no updates Sunday on either shooting.
