Palmer man sentenced to 50 years in prison for girlfriend’s 2019 death

PALMER — A 40-year-old Palmer man was sentenced Wednesday to serve 50 years in prison after being convicted of murder in the death of his girlfriend, Mingnuna Miller.

Palmer Superior Court Judge Kristen Stohler sentenced Martin Saccheus to 65 years in prison with 15 years suspended and 10 years of supervised probation.

Palmer police were called to the Peak Inn Motel in Palmer in November 2019 for a report of a woman not breathing. An autopsy showed Miller’s death was the result of strangulation.

Saccheus was convicted of second-degree murder and manslaughter in June by a Palmer jury. He was in custody at the Goose Creek Correctional Center as of Thursday.
