Man killed in early morning shooting in Palmer, police say

PALMER — A 22-year-old man was killed in a shooting early Monday at a gas station in Palmer, and another 22-year-old man was arrested on murder charges, police said.

Police were notified of reports of shots fired at the Speedway Express station off the Glenn Highway just after 12:40 a.m., according to a Palmer Police Department release. Officers arriving at the gas station found a man later identified as Steven L. Williams dead of apparent gunshot wounds.

Police said the man they subsequently identified as a suspect was 22-year-old Isaac D. Breshaw.

Both men were described as Palmer residents. Police said the shooting was “an isolated incident and there is no further threat to the public.”

Breshaw was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and evidence tampering, police said.

Police spokesman Det. Sgt. Luke Szipszky declined to answer additional questions Monday morning including whether the two men knew each other or what led to the shooting. Alaska State Troopers and members of the Wasilla Police Department assisted with the investigation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
