Pedestrian seriously injured in hit-and-run near Wasilla

A pedestrian was seriously injured early Friday when struck by a vehicle on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway near Wasilla whose driver fled the scene, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers received a report of the hit-and-run at about 4:40 a.m., according to an online dispatch.

The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital, troopers spokesman Austin McDaniel said. The vehicle was traveling west when the incident occurred, he said.

McDaniel said he didn’t immediately have more information about the person involved or their position in the road when they were struck.

Troopers said they are looking for help locating the vehicle, described as a small Dodge sedan missing a passenger-side mirror.

Anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle involved is asked to call dispatch at 907-352-5401.
