Man held in stabbing death of another man in West Anchorage, police say

Update, 9:30 p.m.: Police said a man was being held and will be charged with murder in the death of another man found dead with a stab wound in a West Anchorage apartment on Sunday. Cecil A. Skipper, 33, was being held on a charge of first-degree murder after being arrested at an apartment on West 32nd Avenue near Turnagain Street.

In a statement posted online, police said made Skipper called police dispatch to report the death. “Police responded to the victim’s home and gave Skipper commands to come outside,” police wrote. “He was compliant and taken into custody without incident.  The victim was located inside with a stab wound to the upper body.”

Charging documents had not been filed at of Sunday evening, according to state court records online.

“The motive behind the death, and the relationship between the two, are still under investigation,” police wrote.

Earlier story: Anchorage police on Sunday were investigating what they’re describing as a homicide at a West Anchorage apartment building.

Police said a man was found dead in an apartment in the 2700 block of West 32nd Avenue, just east of Turnagain Street, and the death is being investigated as a homicide.

The man was not immediately identified.

Another man was being held and was taken to the police department for questioning by detectives, police wrote. “Police believe they have contacted everyone involved,” police wrote.
