Alaska State Troopers said three people were found dead Monday near Wasilla after a 45-year-old man killed his girlfriend and her 7-year-old son and then took his own life.
Troopers were asked to conduct a welfare check at a home just after 11:30 a.m. Monday, according to an online dispatch posted Monday night. The location of the home was not provided.
Responding troopers found three people dead inside, they said. They identified them as Ryan Casey, 31-year-old Kelsey Ables and her son, Kason Ables. Troopers said a preliminary investigation determined that Casey shot and killed Ables and the boy before killing himself.
The state Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy. An investigation continues.
