Man dies while in custody at Anchorage Correctional Complex

A man died early Friday while he was incarcerated at the Anchorage Correctional Complex, officials said.

Laron Carlton Graham, 45, had been in custody since June 30 and was awaiting trial on a charge of parole violation tied to a 2017 conviction, according to the Alaska Department of Corrections. He was mostly housed at the Anchorage Correctional Complex, the department said this week.

Graham died of natural causes, the corrections department said. Additional personal or medical information was not released due to security and privacy policies.

Graham is the eighth person to die this year while incarcerated at one of Alaska’s correctional facilities. Eighteen people died last year while in custody, setting a record for the most deaths to happen in a single year.
