Two Kotzebue residents face murder charges in the stabbing death last week of a 33-year-old man in the Northwest Alaska city, police say.
The Kotzebue Police Department on Tuesday said they arrested 29-year-old Calvin Stein and 30-year-old Audrey Booth on charges of first- and second-degree murder. Few additional details were immediately available.
A woman called 911 at about 4:30 p.m. June 14 to report that “someone was bleeding” at an address on Whittier Street next to a popular restaurant and a few blocks from a hotel, according to police. It wasn’t clear if the man was found inside or outside.
The Kotzebue Fire Department responded to the address and requested police assistance, police said.
On scene, police said, they found the injured man with multiple knife wounds. The man, who has not been identified, was transported to Maniilaq Health Center and later pronounced dead, police said.
Kotzebue police asked people with information about the case to call the department at 907-442-3539.
