Washington state man charged with enticing Bethel teen, possession of child pornography

A 40-year-old Washington state man faces extradition to Alaska on charges accusing him of enticing a teenager from Bethel to participate in pornographic images.

A Bethel grand jury on Monday indicted Brian Kevin Powell, of Spokane, on four counts of online enticement of a minor and four counts of possession of child pornography. The indictment references several images that resulted from the online contact.

Alaska State Troopers investigators, working with Homeland Security Investigations and the Spokane Police Department, arrested Powell on Thursday, according to the Alaska Department of Law.

He remained in custody in Spokane pending extradition proceedings as of Friday.

A spokesman for the Department of Law said the agency does not “typically” respond to inquiries regarding active cases.

Prosecutors say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with relevant information can contact Sgt. Teague Widmier at 907-543-2294.
