Death of Wasilla woman is investigated as homicide

Alaska State Troopers say they are investigating as a homicide the death of a Wasilla woman found in her car.

Parthena Kinkead, 39, was reported missing by a friend on April 1, said Troopers’ spokesman Austin McDaniel. Kinkead was last seen driving her white Ford Fiesta in the Wasilla area on March 30, according to the troopers’ report.

Troopers found Kinkead’s body around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday inside her car near Mile 55 of the Seward Highway, just south of the Hope cutoff, McDaniel said.

“She was she was obviously deceased when troopers arrived,“ McDaniel said. “Evidence at the scene has led troopers to believe that the manner of her death was homicide.”

To preserve an active investigation, troopers did not release more details about the case on Sunday, McDaniel said.

No arrests have been made as of Sunday afternoon. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation – Troopers’ major crime investigation unit – is in charge of the case.
