A 35-year-old man held several people at gunpoint late Tuesday before he fatally shot another man inside an apartment near Wasilla, Alaska State Troopers said.
Troopers were called to an apartment outside Wasilla around 11:30 p.m., according to an online report. Matthew Sanchez shot 40-year-old Matthew Lundy and seriously injured him, troopers wrote.
Sanchez left the apartment after the shooting and was arrested by troopers and Wasilla police officers, troopers said. Lundy died at the scene. Troopers did not say where the apartment was located or what may have motivated the shooting.
Sanchez faces a charge of first-degree murder, two counts of third-degree assault and a charge of misconduct involving weapons. He is being held at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, and troopers said the investigation is ongoing.
