Man died of ‘trauma to the body’ in Northeast Anchorage; police investigate as homicide

A man died of “trauma to the body” in Northeast Anchorage on Saturday, the police department said.

Police initially classified the death as suspicious, but upgraded it to a homicide investigation by Saturday night, according to an online statement.

Officers were first called to a residence on the 1200 block of Boston Street, near Muldoon Road, around 12:10 p.m. because a man was dead, police said.

“Upon arrival, officers made observations that have prompted them to take a closer look at the circumstances surrounding the death,” police wrote.

It was determined the man “died as a result of trauma to the body,” the department said.

Few details were available about the circumstances of the death, but police said detectives believe this is an isolated incident.

No one was immediately arrested and police said the investigation is ongoing. The victim was not immediately identified.

This is the 18th person to die of homicide in Anchorage this year, not including two people who were fatally shot by police.
