Anchorage man in custody after argument led to fatal shooting, police say

An argument broke out Friday night in Northeast Anchorage and ended in gunfire, leaving one man dead, police said.

Officers were called to the area of North Bliss Street and Mountain View Drive, where 33-year-old Rick F. Moa was found injured by gunfire, police wrote in an online statement at 8:40 p.m. Friday. He was brought to the hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

Police say 52-year-old Peejay Her shot 33-year-old Rick F. Moa after the men got into an argument. It was not immediately clear what the men were arguing about or how they may have known each other, police wrote. Police did not say if others were present or involved in the shooting.

It was not clear where in the area the shooting occurred.

Her was arrested Sunday on charges of second-degree murder, third-degree misconduct involving a weapon and evidence tampering. He’s being held at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on a $500,000 bond. Her appeared in court Sunday afternoon with assistance from a Hmong interpreter.
