Man wounded in Anchorage gunfire dies in hospital, police say

Officers responding to a report of shots fired on Mountain View Drive late Friday found a wounded man who later died in a hospital, Anchorage police said.

The report at 8:40 p.m. led officers to the area of Mountain View Drive and Bliss Street, according to an online police alert.

“There will be a large police presence in the area as the investigation continues,” police said. “Anyone with information about this investigation, including surveillance video, should call Dispatch at 311 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP.”

Police did not immediately provide further details about the killing, including the man’s identity, possible suspects or the circumstances leading to the gunfire.
