APD: Area 'clear’ after armed man barricaded himself inside Fairview apartment

A large police operation in a Fairview neighborhood ended just after noon Friday and roads were reopened, according to an online alert.

Police said around 11 a.m. Friday they were negotiating with a man believed to be armed who barricaded himself inside an apartment on East 14th Avenue between Medfra and Nelchina streets near Merrill Field.

Officers were initially called to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Nelchina around 7:30 a.m. Friday, police said. A woman involved was contacted but the man stayed in the apartment by himself.

Police did not immediately specify how the conflict was resolved.
