2 wounded in Spenard drive-by shooting

Two women were shot in Spenard early Sunday morning when a vehicle pulled up to an apartment complex and fired shots inside the building, the Anchorage Police Department said.

Police said a person or people in a dark-colored SUV or sedan “fired shots inside a residential complex” on the 3800 block of Indiana Street around 1 a.m. on Sunday.

One woman inside the apartment building was shot in the lower body. Another woman was shot in the upper body, according to police.

Both were hospitalized. One woman’s injuries are considered life-threatening, police said.

Police did not announce any arrests or specify a potential motive for the shooting.

Sunday’s shooting happened around a block from a Sept. 9 shooting on the 1000 block of Chugach Way in which a man was shot in the upper body and hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
