Two women were hospitalized, one of them with life-threatening injuries, police said, after being shot in Anchorage's Mountain View neighborhood early Sunday. The shooter fled the scene, police said.
Police were called to the 4200 block of Mountain View Drive around 2:40 a.m. and found two women, both of them with gunshot injuries to their upper bodies, outside a residence, police wrote in an online dispatch. The area is several blocks east of Bragaw Street.
"The preliminary investigation found that the victims were outside the residence when an unidentified suspect fired multiple rounds in their direction from a dark-colored sedan; the suspect quickly fled the scene shortly thereafter," police wrote. "Officers have cause to believe that this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public."
Both women were taken to the hospital, and one of the women's injuries were life-threatening, police wrote.
Police did not say why they believe it was an isolated incident and didn't release any other information about the incident, including a more detailed description of the suspect.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP or online at anchoragecrimestoppers.com.
