Anchorage police seek witness to shooting that endangered man, pregnant wife

Police on Wednesday are looking for a witness to a March incident in which an Anchorage apartment complex manager and his pregnant wife were shot at after the manager confronted people he suspected were dealing drugs in his parking lot.

One man, 26-year-old Rasean Daniels, has already been arrested and accused of shooting at the couple.

Police were called to the 6600 block of Fairweather Drive in the Taku neighborhood off the Old Seward Highway at 4:28 p.m. March 17 for a reported shooting, the Anchorage Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.

Police say the manager of a nearby apartment complex had seen "two suspicious vehicles parked in the front parking lot" and believed the people inside were dealing drugs. Neither of the suspects lived at the apartments.

The apartment manager confronted the two people, ordered them to leave the parking lot and took pictures of the suspects on his phone, police said.

The manager got into his own car with his pregnant wife. As the manager was driving away, Daniels shot at the couple, shattering the back window of their car, according to police.

No one was hurt, police said.

On April 5, police arrested Daniels on charges of attempted murder, weapons misconduct, assault and criminal mischief.

Police are looking for a second man they say witnessed the shooting and was seen driving a stolen vehicle after the encounter. Police released a photo of the suspect Wednesday. The stolen vehicle was found unoccupied.
