Two people have been arrested in connection with a homicide that happened in Anchorage earlier this month, Alaska State Troopers said on Monday.
Weston Gladney, 36, was found dead on Dec. 2 in the Jim Creek recreation area of Butte in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
In mid-December, officials said that Gladney was murdered in Anchorage. That brought the number of murders in Anchorage to 35 this year, a record number.
Brian Scheele, 56, and Helen Them, 27, were arrested on Friday afternoon, troopers said. Both live in Anchorage. Both are being charged with murder in the first degree, troopers said.
Online court records show that Them was charged with murder in Palmer on Thursday. Records did not show that Scheele had been charged as of Monday. Both were in custody at the Anchorage Correctional Complex, according to troopers.
