Anchorage police looking for convicted murderer who violated probation

Anchorage police are looking for a convicted murderer who allegedly violated his probation.

Police spokesman MJ Thim said in a statement that a warrant has been issued for Darin Jones, 50.

Jones pleaded no contest in the shooting death of his best friend Shane Rogers in 2000. The shooting happened following a day spent using methamphetamine, according to an Anchorage Daily News story.

Police describe Jones as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds. He's bald with tattoos around his mouth and lips.

Anyone with information about Jones' whereabouts is asked to call police dispatchers at 907-786-8900, or to submit an anonymous tip through Anchorage Crime Stoppers.
