Anchorage police have identified two people involved in a suspected murder-suicide on Hillside Drive as a married couple.
Police said the deceased are Larry and Nadya Vehrs, ages 75 and 76 respectively.
The Vehrs' family has been told about the deaths, police said.
Anchorage police doing a welfare check Monday found the two bodies in a wooded area behind the garage of the South Anchorage home.
On Tuesday, they said the discovery was being investigated as a murder-suicide, and that the causes of death appeared to be by gunshots.
Police spokesman MJ Thim said the police department could not share who was the victim and who was the assailant in the incident.
"Still under investigation," Thim said in an email.
