Man wounded by gunfire shows up at Anchorage hospital

Anchorage police say they are investigating a shooting in Mountain View, after which a man showed up at a local hospital with gunshot wounds to his legs.

Police started getting calls about the shooting at the corner of Bragaw Street and Parsons Avenue around 6:50 p.m. Thursday.

"When officers arrived they found shell casings in the street but everyone involved had left the scene," the police department said in a statement.

Witnesses told police there were three people involved in an altercation, a man and two males who appeared to be minors, police said. All three were on foot when a confrontation ensued, and at least one of the boys fired several shots, according to witnesses. After shots were fired, the two suspects ran in one direction and the victim ran in another, witnesses said.

Minutes after the initial call came into dispatchers, a male with gunshot wounds arrived at a hospital. "It is believed he is the victim from Bragaw and Parsons," police said.

No arrests have been made and police are continuing to investigate.
