The Anchorage Police Department has released the name of the man shot and killed in East Anchorage early Tuesday, during gunfire that also left another man wounded.
Tiwan Marquis Johnson Jr., 19, died after he was taken to a hospital following the shooting, reported at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday outside the Brown Jug liquor store at 171 Muldoon Road. Police said another man shot in the incident was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
"There were several people present during the shooting," police said in a statement. "APD is still ascertaining which of those were participants and which were uninvolved bystanders."
Oistad said detectives weren't releasing further details of the case, including anything the surviving victim told investigators, how many people police believe were firing during the incident or whether any suspects have been identified.
"They're keeping pretty tight-lipped about anything that we've come across so far," Oistad said.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact APD at 907-786-8900 or Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP or its website.
Oistad said police had "no definitive information" linking Tuesday's homicide to the injury shootings of two men who showed up at two Anchorage hospitals betwee about 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday.
No arrests have been made in any of the cases, she said.
