Anchorage police searching for vehicle involved in a hit-and-run

Anchorage police are searching for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run early Saturday morning.

According to a 5:43 a.m. news release, a section of Elmore Road between 72nd and 88th avenues was closed as police investigated a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

The road had reopened by 8:30 a.m., according to a later release. No details were given on the extent of the pedestrian's injuries. Calls to Anchorage Police Department public information officers were not returned Saturday afternoon.

In another release, police asked for assistance in identifying the vehicle. It is described as a metallic, dark gray, 2012-2014 model Chevy Sonic, missing a left mirror and with a headlight possibly out.
