Eagle River man charged with sexually abusing 7-year-old girl

Lance Hagedon, a 37-year-old from Eagle River, has been charged with sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl last year, according to the District Attorneys Office.

An Anchorage grand jury indicted Hagedon on two counts each of first- and second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, prosecutors said.

The mother of the girl alerted Anchorage police to the alleged abuse in April. Detectives with the police department's Crimes Against Children Unit interviewed the girl, who said she'd been abused by Hagedon at his home.

Hagedon abused the girl over the course of a weekend while her mother was in the hospital, according to an arrest warrant filed in the case.

If convicted, Hagedon faces a sentence of up to 99 years for the alleged sexual abuse. He has been in custody since his arrest in April and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
