APD, troopers arrest 3 in Wasilla kidnapping, robbery

Alaska State Troopers say three teenagers are being held on robbery, kidnapping and assault charges after they detained a victim at a Wasilla home early Wednesday, and forced him to take them to his home in Eagle River, where they tried to rob him.

The three male suspects — Damien Peterson, 19, Austin Barrett, 18, and Devin Peterson, 17, who will face charges as an adult — were all charged with kidnapping, troopers wrote in an online dispatch.

"Investigation revealed (at about 4 a.m. Wednesday, the suspects) assaulted a male from Eagle River at the Jasper Drive address, held him against his will forcing him to lead them to his residence on the Old Glenn Highway in Eagle River, where they attempted to rob him of money," troopers wrote. "The victim was able to subdue Damien while the other two fled prior to APD arrival."

The other two suspects were subsequently arrested by troopers at the Jasper Drive home.

Troopers said Damien Peterson faces additional charges of robbery and assault, as well as an arrest warrant for failure to appear in court.

All three suspects were held without bail at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.
