1 dead, 2 injured in Mat-Su plane crash

One person died in a plane crash in Willow on Wednesday evening, according to Alaska State Troopers.

At 7 p.m., troopers received a report of a plane crash west of Mile 69 of the Parks Highway, near Long Lake Road and Barrington Loop in Willow.

"Three people were believed to be on the plane when it crashed," troopers said. One person died, and two suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The plane crash sparked a wildfire, troopers said.

Alaska Division of Forestry spokesman Tim Mowry said the fire was under control Wednesday evening.

Troopers, the Alaska Division of Forestry, and emergency medic and fire crews were on scene, troopers said.
