A 54-year-old Anchorage man flipped his snowmachine on a Big Lake ice road and died late Sunday, Alaska State Troopers report.
William Hunsuck was driving the two-passenger snowmachine with his son-in-law aboard on Big Lake just before 11:30 p.m. when it hit a snow berm and Hunsuck was ejected, said Megan Peters, troopers spokeswoman.
The dual-track Ski-Doo Elite rolled 274 feet, she said.
The snowmachine had seatbelts but Hunsuck wasn't wearing his, according to troopers. He was wearing a helmet.
Toby Tremble, Hunsuck's son-in-law, who was wearing his seatbelt and helmet, wasn't injured, she said.
Two people who either heard or found the crash called 911 shortly afterward, she said.
