3 people hurt by gunfire at South Anchorage home

Two men were hospitalized with serious injuries after a shooting on the lower Hillside on Friday morning, according to Anchorage Police Sgt. Slawomir Markiewicz. A third man was treated for a gunshot wound and released.

Police believe six people were staying overnight Thursday at a house at 11031 Forest Drive, off O'Malley Road. Early Friday morning, there was an argument, then a shooting, Markiewicz said. He doesn't yet know how many guns were fired or what caused the argument. Alcohol was involved, he said.

Detectives are still sorting out who is a suspect and who is a victim among the six people at the home, he said. No one was taken into custody. All four of the non-hospitalized people were questioned and released.

Two 24-year-old male victims were shot in the chest and one had wounds on the leg, Markiewicz said. The third victim, who is 55, had non-life-threatening bullet wounds to his chest.

All three men were able to communicate with police officers on the way to the hospital, according to police. The seriously injured men had surgery Friday.

Peter Michael, who lives next door to the house where the shooting occurred, said he believes a man, his adult daughter and son and two other friends live there.

The neighborhood is usually very quiet, he said.
