A man was taken to the hospital with injuries after a shooting early Sunday in East Anchorage, police said.
Patrol officers responded to the 1000 block of Hoyt Street around 3:23 a.m. Sunday for a reported shooting, Anchorage police said in an online update. Officers found a man with an upper-body gunshot wound, and medics took the man to a hospital, police said.
“Police are currently following up on leads and there is no suspect information to release at this time,” police said in the update. “The motive, and any relationship between the parties involved, is under investigation.”
The Anchorage Police Department asked anyone who has information about the shooting, including surveillance footage from the area where it occurred, to call dispatch at 311 (option 1) or 907-786-8900 (option 0). The shooting location is north of DeBarr Road, between Bragaw and Pine streets.
As part of their initial response, police blocked off part of Hoyt Street; they had cleared the area by 8 a.m. Sunday.
Police said they didn’t have any updates on the case as of midmorning Sunday.
