No injuries reported in warehouse fire at Anchorage Correctional Complex

A fire in a warehouse at the Anchorage Correctional Complex early Tuesday caused damage but no injuries, the Alaska Department of Corrections said.

Fire alarms first went off just after 12:30 a.m. in the warehouse, a separate building from where inmates are housed at the complex, according to Betsy Holley, a spokesperson for the department. No one was in the building, which is used to store supplies, Holley said.

The fire department responded around 12:45 a.m. and left about three hours later, she said.

Most of the damage was caused by water, Holley said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, she said.

An Anchorage Fire Department spokesperson did not immediately respond to questions about the incident on Tuesday morning.
