2 pedestrians killed after being struck by pickup trucks in East Anchorage, police say

Two pedestrians were killed in separate incidents in East Anchorage early Sunday after they were struck by pickup trucks, police said.

In the first incident, around 12:30 a.m., a driver in a pickup struck a woman walking along Muldoon Road near East 6th Avenue, police said in an online summary. The woman was not walking in a crosswalk and was declared dead at the scene, police said. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, and no charges have been filed, police said.

Neither the woman nor the driver were immediately identified.

Later Sunday, around 6:35 a.m., the driver of another pickup truck struck a man crossing Debarr Road outside a crosswalk near Bragaw Street, police said.

The man died after he was taken to a hospital, police said. That driver also remained at the scene, police said. No charges have been filed in that case, police said.

Neither the man nor that driver were immediately identified.

Both collisions remain under investigation, police said.
