Arctic Thunder 2024 is this weekend at JBER

The Arctic Thunder Open House returns to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson this weekend, a free two-day event featuring aerial acrobatics and military demonstrations.

The biennial event runs Saturday and Sunday with U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds air demonstration squadron and the U.S. Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights.

The event is free and open to the public with free parking available. Gates open at 9 a.m. both days, with the show starting at 11:15 a.m.

This year’s theme is “Honoring Legacy, Inspiring the Next Generation.” The last time Arctic Thunder was held in 2022, more than 100,000 people attended despite rainy weather.

Coolers, alcohol, marijuana, large bags and backpacks and drones are all forbidden. Pets are prohibited from the Arctic Thunder grounds but service animals assisting physically challenged guests will be authorized. No Ubers, Lyfts, taxis, RVs, trailers or oversize vehicles. Hearing protection is encouraged, especially for children.
