Driver killed in Northeast Anchorage collision, police say

A woman was killed Monday in a collision with a commercial truck in Anchorage’s Mountain View neighborhood, police said.

A commercial water truck headed west on Commercial Drive crossed the center line and struck the woman’s eastbound sedan, police said in a statement. Officers were called to the collision just before noon Monday.

The woman, who was driving the sedan, was declared dead at the scene by Anchorage Fire Department medics, police said. The driver of the commercial truck stayed on the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation into the collision, police said.

Police will identify the woman who died after her family has been notified, they said. No charges or citations have been issued in relation to the collision, police said.

“The dynamics of the collision, to include what caused the truck driver to cross the center line, are still under investigation,” police said in their statement.

Commercial Drive will be closed between both ends of Rampart Drive, which each connect with Commercial Drive, while the police department processes the scene, they said. Drivers are asked to use an alternate route.

Police also asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the department’s dispatch at 3-1-1, or 907-786-8900.
