A person was found dead along a roadway in the Eagle River area early Sunday, and Anchorage police were describing it as a possible hit-and-run.
According to a written statement from police, the fire department responded at 2:17 a.m. to a report of a person lying near VFW Road. Medics determined the person was dead, police said.
“The medics advised APD officers on mid shift patrol that a vehicle vs pedestrian hit and run had possibly occurred,” police wrote. “The Major Collision Investigation Unit conducted their investigation and called in members of the Crime Scene to take a closer look.”
Few other details were released, and the person killed has not been identified.
