Motorcyclist seriously injured in South Anchorage collision

A man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries Saturday evening after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a vehicle on the Old Seward Highway near Dimond Boulevard, Anchorage police said.

Officers responded to the crash just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday, police said in an online alert. According to a preliminary investigation, the driver of a 2015 Kawasaki Ninja was heading north on the Old Seward before his motorcycle hit a black 2013 Subaru Outback, police said. The Subaru’s driver was turning out of a business to go south on the highway when the crash happened, according to police.

Police said the motorcycle driver’s injuries “appeared to be life-threatening.” The woman driving the Subaru stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said, adding that no charges had been filed.

The crash temporarily closed northbound lanes of the Old Seward Highway on Saturday evening.
