A woman walking across Fifth Avenue near downtown Anchorage early Saturday was struck by a pickup truck and killed, police said.
The woman was “in or near” a crosswalk at Karluk Street when she was struck by the westbound truck just before 2 a.m., police said. She was declared dead by medics at the scene.
“The driver remained on scene and has been cooperative with the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time,” police said.
Fifth Avenue remained closed at Karluk as of 5 a.m. while investigators processed the scene.
